Dr Whalen is an approved provider (#1070) by the Division of Workers Compensation and the California Board of Chiropractic Examiners with numerous timely courses eligible for QME and BCE continuing education credits. He also lectures regularly for the California Chiropractic Association, and Palmer College of Chiropractic-West.
Dr. Whalen is experienced in providing medical legal testimony for plaintiffs, defendants, prosecutors and regulatory agencies in medical malpractice, personal injury, work injuries, criminal cases, administrative and licensing board issues. He is considered an expert in workers’ compensation by his peers and the State of California Division of Workers Compensation, and is an expert consultant for the California Board of Chiropractic Examiners. He has testified on issues of boundaries, standard of care, treatment issues, billing, documentation and disability. He provides evaluation of potential legal cases, independent medical examinations (IME), and case reviews. As a Past President of the California Chiropractic Association and Chair of the Council on Chiropractic Guidelines and Practice Parameters (now “Clinical Compass”) Dr. Whalen has extensive and unique experience and qualifications in addressing issues of standard of care. In addition he co-authored multiple “Best Practice” documents regarding chiropractic care of low back pain, neck pain, chronic pain and other issues which have been published in the peer-reviewed scientific literature.
